Regulations for School AET 2018
Schooling Section, Urasoe City Board of Education, 1. Purpose
Urasoe City Board of Education assign Assistant English Teachers (AETs) to each school to develop our students’ ability to communicate in English and expand their scope so that they can adapt to the internationalization.
2. Job Description
Both foreign and Japanese AETs are called “AET” without distinction in Urasoe city. AETs do Team-Teaching with homeroom teachers at elementary schools, and with English
teachers at junior high schools.
(1) Support in English classes
(2) Support to make some teaching materials
(3) Support in integrated study periods, club activities and international cultural exchange (ICE) programs (4) Support to teach for English competition such as speech contest, etc.
(5) Any other work required by the principal or the Board of Education
3. Required Days and Hours of Work
(1) The period of contract is from April to March of school year 2018. (2) The number of work days is within 202 days in total.
(3) In principle, the AET must work 5 days a week, 6 hours a day, 30 hours a week in total.
(Less than 22 lessons in a week. To secure the time for meeting with teachers and the preparing time for lessons.)
4. Remuneration
This shall be in accordance with "Remuneration and Compensation of Expenses for Urasoe City Special Part-time Workers" Form.
(1) Remuneration shall be paid in the amount of 12,000 Yen for one day.
(2) Compensation of expenses shall be allotted in the amount of 700 Yen for one day.
(3) Remuneration and compensation shall be transferred in to the employee's bank account on the 15th day of the following month. (If the 15th day of the month is a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, the transfer will be made on the preceding work day.)
＊Social Insurance and Employment Insurance shall be deducted from the AET's monthly salary.
＊If you have School Lunch, the charge is ¥4,200 for elementary school and ¥4,600 for junior high school. Please pay the fees directly to your assigned school if desired.
＊If you have to change your visa to an education visa, it is your responsibility to pay for the expense.
5. Paid Leave and Sick Leave
This shall be in accordance with "Urasoe City Part-time Workers Regulations."
(1) The AET shall be allowed 10 days of paid leave and 6 days of sick leave.
(2) Paid leave shall be granted in units of 30 minutes or 1 day, with 1 day equal to 6 hours.
6. Conditions for Termination of Employment
(1) Conduct that does not suitable for an Assistant English Teacher (2) A poor attitude which does not show possibility of improvement (3) Violation of a condition of employment
